When there's a death in the family.....

EAT CRAWFISH!
Delicious crawfish purchased in the parking lot of Ace True Value Hardware from the members of Sigma Nu fraternity for $7/bag. That's cheap! The bags are 3lbs each.

The spread pre-feast.

My hands post-feast.

Suddenly, I feel better. Life goes on. Ashes to ashes.

MURDER!

Above: Dolly flying to that big coop in the sky.......

MURDERER

Lucy killed Dolly Madison. 4:45 p.m. 4/20/2007
Dolly lived a full life. All 24 days of it.
She won't be forgotten.
R.I.P. Dolly, R.I.P

Chloe-Nina

Every morning I say to Chloe, "Chloe, let's go check on the chickens!" She RUNS to the door and sprints all the way out to the chicken coop. The whole time I'm feeding and watering the chickens she lays down patiently next to the coop door and watches the chicks intently. When it's time to go, it's almost impossible to get her to leave! Chloe is a fabulous chicken guard dog. She thinks they are sheep? I can't wait till she gets to herd them.

Chloe says hello and have a nice day!

Introducing: LADY BIRD JOHNSON

Lady Bird is an Americauna chicken. She will look like this when she grows up. Americauna's are commonly referred to as "easter eggers" because they lay blue and green eggs! Isn't that exciting!

At present, I think that Lady Bird is the most attractive of all of the first ladies. She is also very inquisitive and friendly. She doesn't mind being picked up and she is the first to run towards treats and food.

Plus, she's a democrat which makes me love her even more!

miniature COWS

Here is my latest temptation: Miniature Cows.

According to Miniature Cattle.com here are reasons for having them:

Why miniature cattle?
There are several reasons let's start with an obvious one.Farm Size: It has become fashionable, popular, or what ever your reason, to move to suburbia, buy some acreage, and revisit the roots from which most of us came. For others, too try and introduce our children to values lost in the modern day hustle and bustle. "Fresh air, (not) Time Square, is the life for me." We love those Greenacres of fresh spring grass. Many small farms are 5 to 20 acres and are looking to be as self reliant as possible. Yet most owners have employment outside the farm and need their small farm to be as efficient as possible. They just do not have the time for full scale farming or ranching.
Aren't they cute!?!?!?

Chick News:
The chicks are getting really big. They are starting to grow their feathers and they are getting fiesty! They do this cute little run/hop/attempt to fly routine when I put them out to play in the grass.
The breeds I have:
Rhode Island Red
Barred Plymouth Rocks
Ameracauna
I love them! But they stink! And they poop so much!

Snakes in the Office: Part deux

I told the marketing guy in NY about my snake situation and he sent me this file on IM.

Hilarious! but seriously......I'm still scared.

SNAKES IN THE OFFICE!!!!!!

OH MY GOD!

I am at work alone today b/c it's Good Friday and everyone has the day off but me.
Some guys from Dubach heat and air came to move a thermostat from the hall to inside my boss's office. *note* my office is in a cool old house....probably built around 1900***
So, the workmen open the attic door to look at the wiring and THIS was all wound about the attic stairs!!!!!!!!!!!
That means that the snake is still up there! It's four feet long!!!
i'm terrified.

I have been inspired by my dear friend smelly to be a better blogger. Her blog is so HILARIOUS! Check it out: www.cupofpizza.blogspot.com
Chickens are getting really big and starting to bounce around and fly in their box.
One of them ate a huge, slimy, white grub last wknd.

It is now approx 11:34 CST and I have officially done nothing at work so far this morning. Shopping for handbags and yoga pants online.

My new favorite yoga clothes website: Love it! www.athleta.com
