Chicken News

left to right: Jackie Kennedy, Lady Bird Johnson, Nancy Reagan, Mamie Eisenhower
The big chickens are happy and healthy. They love to roam around in their run all day and eat delicious bugs and plants.

left: Julia Grant (/Sugarbaker) right: Lucretia Garfield
The little chicks (there are only 2 left !!!!Hillary and Edith both met mysterious ends....they completely disappeared w/ no signs of a struggle. Here are my two ideas for what happened: 1. alien abduction 2. the rapture) are getting bigger every day. They are starting to get their feathers and lose their baby fuzz. Sad.
Here's a charming shot of Mamie Eisenhower's butt. Cute!
I never knew that chickens liked to take sunbaths just like cats. They do. Here's a cute pic of Mamie and Jackie enjoying the summertime.

Sorry the blog has been sporadic as of late.........I promise to be better. I've been feeling a bit blah but things are looking a bit rosier.

Bon Jour du Maman!

I made my mom a lovely brunch. Le menu: french toast made w/ french bread (how frenchie!), le saussison (lite), et le fresh pineapple. It was fun and delish.

I gave her a water garden for mother's day. It has been a nightmare. Let's just say that Home Depot's instructions were ridiculous. So, the saga continues and the fountain isn't ready yet. It should be ready to put together by this evening. I will def post pics. I can't wait! I love watergardens!

Round Two!!!!!!!

So, I went to Hot Springs, AR last weekend with Katherine Altobello and had a fabulous, fabulous time.

I left my chickens in the trusted care of my parents. I let them out of the coop Sat. morning and confirmed w/ my Pops that he would let them back in at dusk so that the chickens would be safe.

Well, he didn't.

Eleanor Roosevelt is dead. It was much more gruesome than the first chicken death. Literally half of her body was missing. And she was getting pretty big. Sad. and gross.

So, four chickens just aren't enough.

I GOT FOUR MORE TODAY AT THE FEED STORE.
I'M A MANIAC!

this is a rhode island red. (replacing dolly madison who Lucy murdered.....okay, dolly will never be replaced but....)
Name idea: Pat (Nixon)? Florence (Harding)?

Here is a little blonde buff orphington.
Name idea: Hillary

here is a little black star australorp chick.
Name idea: Barbara? (bush...I know...boo hiss) Eliza (Johnson)?

Somehow I deleted the fourth one's pic but she is black and white and I'm thinking of naming her Mary Todd. or Edith(Wilson) or Hannah (Van Buren)

Please leave name feedback.
